Marking the launch of SheTrades in The Gambia, stakeholders will come together to support women making business and pitching for investments.
SheTrades in The Gambia aims to enable Gambian women to benefit from economic participation starting with a focus on agricultural and textiles and garments value chains. The project is part of the global SheTrades initiative, which aims to connect 3 million women to market by 2021.
The launch event will include a presentation on the SheTrades initiative, its objectives and benefits of participating; a high-level panel discussing solutions for women-owned business challenges to trade; and, a workshop on competitiveness, which will prepare women entrepreneurs to take advantage of trade opportunities.
The day will also feature a competition for investment organized in partnership with the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) and the Leadership Gambia Institute.
SheTrades in The Gambia and the Youth Empowerment Project are implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC), in partnership with the Ministry of Trade, Industry , Regional Integration and Employment (MOTIE).
